Watching these youtube videos really makes me want to get back into sketching to see how good I might be able to become. I will probably never be as good as this artist though. Enjoy!

Diorama
My diorama was dedicated to college football and the need for a college football playoff. It was a fun way to get creative and explore an issue and learn more about it. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it on my phone (thought I did) so I will have to post the picture tomorrow.
Public Art

There are many examples of public art as evidenced in my google search results but I decided to go with a monument. I had seen pictures of this before but never knew anything about it. The Cristo-Rei (Christ the King) in Almada, Portugal is one of the tallest monuments in the World. It was built designed and built in 1940, as a plea to God to release Portugal from entering World War II.
Cool Architecture
Interview with an artist.

I was only able to catch up with an artist who is not yet famous but hopes to be someday. She has some formal art training and has always had a natural talent for it. Her name is Sara and she was in a hurry but I was able to get a few questions in.
Me: So how did you get interested in art?
Sara: I loved arts and crafts since I was a wee kid. People around me recognized my interest in it and encouraged my parents to help me realize my potential.
Me: So you were a natural huh? How did you end up choosing your specialty?
Sara: Well I was always best at sketching and conveniently, I enjoyed it the most too!
Me: Any idea how many pictures you have drawn?(I know stupid question, but I'm no Larry King)
Sara: Oh I can't even imagine.. must be thousands.
We wrapped it up after that but it was cool to see how excited she was about her passion.

Art can be made in so many ways with so many things. This talented artist uses sand to express himself.
Catharsis

Earlier today I had a catharsis. I was under a lot of stress because finals are coming up and I have to get A's to get the hope back...and money is tight! After a car ride with a close friend I felt much better. I was able to vent my frustration through talking to him about it and also through singing along with one of my favorite rock songs at the top of my lungs. I'm feeling much better for now.
Right brain, left brain

In this day and age it seems that we are pushed in school and society to focus much more on developing our left brain. I think that it is very important to exercise and use your right brain regularly. Although I would like to call myself someone that uses a lot of logic and rationalizing in my decisions among other things, I do not have all the characteristics of a left brained thinker. For one, I absolutely hate mathematics and I am a more laid back individual. I think my right brain shows when I am creative, when I look at the big picture, and when I trust my intuition. I would like to exercise my right brain more by taking up an instrument and taking up another form of art as a hobby.
Artists in society

after reading an article at www.unitedstatesartists.org called "An American Paradox", I found out how little artists are embraced and valued by the average american. Many people enjoy art, but just don't appreciate the people that make it. Many see the making of art as a "frivolous or recreational pursuit". It is also sad that most famous artists aren't famous until after their life has passed.
25 hours worth of art in 4 minutes
Personally, seeing the process of art is much more satisfying than staring at the finished product. When the process is sped up its even more fun (and less time consuming).
I know what art is.

If you asked most people what art is, they might say something like, "art is paintings, drawings, and sculpture". After taking this class i've found that it encompasses much more than this. Art can also be film making, fashion designing, expressive dance and many other forms of expression that appeal to the senses and emotions. Art is something that makes us more thoughtful and well-rounded humans. Art is exercise for your right brain and most people underestimate its importance and value.
Sport is a culture because...
'Sport is not a matter of life and death. It is much more important than that', said Bill Shankly. Now I would not take it that far but there are plenty of people whose life is ruled by sports. They use a majority of time playing or watching sports, plan their diet for better sports performance, dress in fan gear half the time, and spend time with other people that share the same passion. I also think that an athlete can express themselves artistically through sports. For example, a basketball player might dribble a ball through his legs preceding an acrobatic jump into a 360 and ultimately slam dunking the ball.
Youtube art #2
This video contains some cool optical illusions including hands painted and held in a way that they look like various animals. After seeing all kinds of different art I think optical illusions, when done well, rank near the top of my favorites. Enjoy!

"It shouldn't take our creative leaders shouting from the tallest mountains that arts-based education is key to developing the kind of workers they need to grow their industries. We should all recognize the role of the arts in our lives and create opportunities for each individual to develop the kind of open-ended creativity and thought processes which are critical to reaching our highest human intellectual and economic achievements."
-Dylan Kendall, Founder and Executive Director of Hollywood Arts
Mr. Kendall just about sums it up. I feel like the art classes I have taken in my younger years were very enjoyable and beneficial in developing my creative side. I believe that both art and physical education are just as important as other subjects that are "essential".
Fashion inspired by art
Art that represents the human condition

I found this piece while browsing online and did not understand the message at first but when I started reading other viewers opinions I found one that I agree with. The viewer said that "the heavy black canon ball represents the undeniable weight of the real while the painting represents our desire for more pleasing representations of the world filled with color and light". it's amusing to see what different people take from a piece of artwork and how they interpret it. It reminds me of a song that has vague lyrics that people can take and apply to their own circumstance to find meaning.
Interview with a curator.
Although I could not nail down an interview with a curator, I did the next best thing and found some videos of Stephanie Heydt (curator at the High Museum)explaining pieces of art.
My photographic eye
I have always been interested in cars and the designs that are used to make some so aesthetically appealing. I've also always had an interest in photography so I thought why not take some pictures of my brother in laws new porsche, along with my Z. (the color has been doctored on the two pics of the 350 using flickr.com)

Across the Universe: This film is a work of art.
If you enjoy The Beatles you will most definitely enjoy the musical film "Across the Universe". It is a rare film that puts the emphasis on visuals and song, instead of stars and story. It is a very visually inventive film and paired with music is full of art and creativity.
Human struggle in an art form.

humans struggle everyday to get along, be happy, and even to be free and survive. This drawing I found represents a slave that is crying out to just be treated fairly like every man and woman should have the right to be treated. Art like this can really make a difference if enough people, or just the right people see it and actually do something about it.
Human behavior in art
Dance Art
This video is simply awesome. I can't believe this guy can do so many dance styles so well. This is artistic expression for this guy if you ask me, and its also an expression of humor. (I love his mc hammer dance in particular)
Art on YouTube
I found this video of someone making art with coffee, cream, and chocolate. This person obviously has a lot of extra time on their hands in a coffee shop but the artistic expression shown here is worth checking out. This is an example of how you can make art out of almost anything...who says you need paper, pencils, paint, or a chisel to make art??
Is graffiti art really art???

I don't think this question has a yes or no answer. It goes deeper than that. I believe that there are a lot of talented graffiti artists out there that don't use their abilities for vandalism or for gang activity etc. I've seen graffiti "art" that was just a sloppy sign or signature and I guess that is art if you look at it a certain way, but there is a big difference between unwanted art that vandalizes property and art that makes an area look better because it catches your eye and makes life a little more interesting.
The preceding pictures help show my point.

I had no idea what a poetry slam was before today but I read a lot about it on Wikipedia and found it to be an interesting concept. It is a competition where poets read or recite the poems that they have written and then they are judged on a number scale by members in the audience. It started at the "get me high" lounge in Chicago and has since spread all over the world.
This video is a true work of art.
Since the first time I saw this music video, I was really impressed with the artistic creativity that has been put into it. It is a one of a kind music video and the song is a good one too in my humble opinion. Check it out!

I love this piece of artchitecture.
My Favorite Artist
Art On Youtube
Watch this video if you want to be absolutely amazed. This is almost like a form of graffiti art because the canvas is outside on the concrete. The artist is obviously very skilled and the final products illusion is quite intrigueing.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SNYtd0Ayt0
